Saraswati Day, known as Hari Raya Saraswati, is an important Hindu holy day in Bali dedicated to Dewi Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, literature, and the arts. For Balinese Hindus, knowledge is a sacred blessing that helps people understand life, make good decisions, and develop wisdom.

On this day, Balinese people offer prayers and traditional offerings (banten) to books, sacred manuscripts, and learning materials as a sign of gratitude for knowledge. Schools and temples often hold special ceremonies, with students and teachers wearing traditional Balinese clothing to pray for wisdom and success in learning.

The day after Saraswati Day is called Banyu Pinaruh, when many Balinese Hindus visit beaches, rivers, or springs for ritual bathing and purification. Saraswati Day takes place every 210 days according to the Balinese Pawukon calendar.

More than a religious celebration, Saraswati Day reminds people to respect education, appreciate the guidance of teachers, and use knowledge wisely and responsibly. It reflects the Balinese belief that true wisdom comes not only from learning but also from applying knowledge with kindness and understanding.
