Our trek up mount batur was unforgettable! I was pushing my fitness limits getting up to the top but it was worth it in the end. We had an amazing guide hiking up with us and a fantastic driver taking us there and back. Our driver Eka, was very friendly and made the long drive a pleasure, thanks Eka for a great day?

Up not so bright (yet) and early we were picked up at 02:30 for the Mount Batur Sunrise Trek.To our surprise, we were once again reacquainted with our guide from the 'Highlights of Ubud' tour on 21/8/22, Desna - which was great, for all of the reasons detailed in our review of that tour. He was excellent again and we cannot recommend him enough.We made the 1 hour drive to the Volcano where we were greeted by our guide Asmara who gave us a set of head torches and then on our way up we went in the dark up to the summit of Batur (1715m AOD) Plenty of stops, we took our time and Asmara could not do enough for us from, pointing out the interesting volcanic features to always ensuring our safety.We witnessed an amazing sunrise at 0623. Worth the walk and effort to get up there.Some level of fitness is required, however, they are easy going enough to get you up regardless of your abilities - which was great to see!We then made our decent and were once again greeted by the ever reliant Desna for a short visit to the hot springs. A peaceful place with nice views. The water is hotter the high you go up (I'd suggest finding and sitting under or near a fountain/tap) as this is lovely and hot!Another great trip in Bali!Chris & Jess
