Rise & Shine!

Our driver, Kadek, arrived early at our hotel to pick us up. 2:30 AM was the pickup time in Sanur. He was friendly to chat with and a safe driver. After arriving to the mountain where the hike started, he connected us with the guide that lead us on the hike. I forget his name, but he was also friendly. He set us up with head lights and we started hiking. He seemed to understand our pace, which was a bit faster than most, and kept us moving at that pace when possible. The trail does get narrow, so you will end up following people going slower up the mountain. It was chilly waiting for the sun to rise once we reached the top, so be sure to take layers of clothing and a light jacket. After a light breakfast of hot hard boiled eggs, snake fruit, white bread slices, jelly, and really sweet boxed juice while watching the sun rise, we took photos. The guide helped us get some great shots. Then we hiked around the top of the volcano and down the other side, taking more photos and video. We were picked up by our driver, Kadek, in a different parking lot that was higher on the mountain, so did not hike all the way down to where we started. We said goodbye to our hiking guide and headed to the hot springs about 10 minutes away. The hot springs were actually a series of warm, not hot, pools like swimming pools. There was a place to change, they provided a towel, and you could also purchase food and drinks. We were there around 1 1/2 hour. It was nice. The driver then offered to take us to a coffee plantation, which we declined as we had already been to a coffee plantation a couple days prior. The drive back was long, but scenic. We returned around noon. Thank you to our driver and guide for a fantastic day! This was our favorite excursion during our week in Bali
